RADIESSE - Collagen stimulator

RADIESSE is a dermal filter used to smooth moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds

RADIESSE® is a dermal filler that is used to smooth moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds. RADIESSE® is the only dermal filler that gives both immediate results and long-term improvement in the treatment area. It is suitable for both women and men.

Its skillful combination with other aesthetic procedures is the modern adequate counteraction to the aging process and preservation of youthful appearance without surgical intervention.

What is RADIESSE®?

The RADIESSE® formula combines a gel with tiny calcium microspheres called calcium hydroxyapatite, which is structurally similar to that found in bones and teeth. The two elements work together to add volume and stimulate the production of new collagen. When injected, the gel component creates a temporary filling that lasts three to six months. The remaining calcium particles create a scaffold around which tissue is built, creating the longer-term filling.

What is Calcium Hydroxyapatite?

Calcium hydroxyapatite, or CaHA, is what makes RADIESSE® unique as an injectable aesthetic treatment. It is the first and only product with CaHA that provides both immediate, natural-looking results and long-term improvement – a year or more in many patients.

Applications of RADIESSE® in aesthetic dermatology

RADIESSE® is a dermal filter, but with an extraordinary effect on the treated area. In the first moment after injection it creates volume and contours. Subsequently, the hydroxyapatite begins to work and create a scaffold around which the skin accumulates collagen and elastin that build the new tissue. RADIESSE® is an indispensable assistant to restore structural losses in the skin, to tighten and smooth fine lines and wrinkles on the face, neck and décolleté. It is also used to tighten, smooth and correct volume loss in the skin on the upper arms.

Your skin changes over time due to a decrease in collagen and elastin content, which contribute to skin strength and elasticity. Unfortunately, aging and environmental factors (such as sun exposure) make it difficult for the body to produce these components. The reduced amount of collagen and elastin can lead to wrinkling and sagging of the facial skin, which are the first signs of skin aging.

Main advantages of RADIESSE®

RADIESSE® is the only dermal filter of its kind with immediate and delayed action. When the carrier gel in the RADIESSE® formula breaks down, a dense network of collagen fibers is formed thanks to the second component, calcium hydroxyapatite.

The collagen and elastin formed replace the correction provided by the carrier gel, smoothing lines and helping to renew the skin’s structure.

RADIESSE® is non-animal based and contains no animal proteins. Pre-testing for allergies is not necessary.

Duration of the RADIESSE® procedure result?

All dermal fillers provide only a temporary result. Over time, the body naturally breaks down the filter, resulting in the treated area returning to its previous state. The duration of the result can vary greatly, according to the individual characteristics of each patient.

RADIESSE®, unlike any other dermal filler, works in two phases – instantly filling in the treatment area and increasing collagen production over time. This is why the results of the treatments last 18-24 months or longer.

How many treatments are needed to achieve the desired result?

The number of treatments needed to achieve the desired result depends on your individual facial characteristics and your personal treatment plan. Your dermatologist will determine with you the number of treatments and the amount of RADIESSE®® you will need for each treatment. An adjustment may be necessary to get the desired result.

How the RADIESSE® procedure works

Like any other aesthetic procedure at Skin Line, the RADIESSE® injection begins with an aesthetic consultation to educate the patient in detail about what is to come and what the final results may be. During the consultation, you and your dermatologist decide if this is the right procedure for you and if your expected results can be achieved.

The patient is familiarised with the contents and signs an Informed Consent for the injectable procedure.
Next, the patient is prepared for the injection – cleaning and disinfecting the area to be treated.
Anesthesia of the area to be treated with an anesthetic cream containing lidocaine.
This is followed by the actual injection of RADIESSE® into the target areas.
The patient is familiarised with the results achieved by the injection.

Results from RADIESSE® treatments begin to appear after the first treatment. After the treatment is completed, the skin renewal effect continues.

Within the first 24 hours after RADIESSE® injection:

The treated areas should not be washed in order to avoid contamination;
Do not exercise and avoid physical exertion;
Avoid excessively hot environments (solarium, Turkish bath, sauna, etc.).
Avoid alcohol consumption and smoking;
Do not expose yourself to direct sunlight;
Consume plenty of water.

Is the RADIESSE® procedure painful?

Pain or discomfort during the procedure is minimal as the procedure is performed by an experienced injector. The procedure is minimally invasive and performed through a series of injections using an ultrathin needle. RADIESSE® contains added lidocaine to provide pain relief to the injection site during the procedure. However, the sensation of pain depends on each patient’s individual tolerance and can vary widely. The application of an anaesthetic cream and the use of special extremely fine needles greatly reduces discomfort during the procedure.
